Restoration principles

The surviving impression remains the authority. Repairs must preserve the original subject, composition, borders, lettering relationships, engraving texture, and period palette. Natural paper tone or light wear may remain when removing it would erase authentic printing character or require invented detail.

Technical production records—including exact source and master hashes, dimensions, promotion history, masks, and independent visual-review evidence—are maintained with the edition archive.
